1. What this policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains what information MyTube collects when you use the app, why it's collected, and how it's handled. MyTube is a distraction-free study space that lets you save educational YouTube playlists and channels, track your study progress, and stay focused while learning.

This policy applies to the MyTube web app and the MyTube Android app, which share the same account and backend.

2. Information we collect

Account information

When you create a MyTube account, we collect:

• Your display name
• Your email address
• Authentication-related information (your password is never stored in plain text — it's protected using industry-standard hashing before it's saved)

You can also use MyTube as a guest, which creates a temporary session without requiring an email address.

Study information

To provide MyTube's core features, we store the study data you create, including:

• Playlists and channels you save
• Saved study content and organization
• Video watch/completion status and progress
• Streak and study-progress information
• Your study preferences (such as focus duration, autoplay, and reminder settings)

Technical information

We process the minimum technical information needed to operate MyTube reliably and securely — such as request information needed to keep your session authenticated, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot problems when something breaks.

Local browser/device storage

Some information is kept only on your own device, not on our servers:

• Your theme preference (dark, light, or system)
• Your login session token, so you don't have to sign in every time
• Locally remembered video playback position, if you've enabled "Remember playback position"

MyTube does not use tracking cookies, advertising identifiers, or location data, and does not currently use any analytics service.

3. Why MyTube uses this information

• Account authentication — to let you securely sign in and access your own data.
• Providing Library, playlists, Study Mode and Progress — the saved playlists/channels, completion tracking, and streaks are the core of what MyTube does, and require storing this data on your account.
• Saving your study progress and settings — so your preferences and progress are there the next time you open the app, on any device.
• Security and abuse prevention — to protect accounts and the service from misuse.
• Troubleshooting and service improvement — to diagnose and fix problems when the app doesn't work as expected.

4. Third-party services

YouTube content and player

MyTube uses the official YouTube Data API and the official YouTube player to retrieve and play the playlists and channels you add. Video playback happens through YouTube's own player, and your interaction with that embedded content is also subject to YouTube's Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy.

MyTube does not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

5. Data retention and account deletion

We keep your account and study data for as long as your account exists, so MyTube can continue to work as expected across sessions and devices.

You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Danger Zone → Delete account. Deleting your account removes your account, playlists, channels, and study history from our systems. This action cannot be undone.

6. Security practices

Account authentication uses industry-standard password hashing and token-based sessions. Data is stored in a managed cloud database. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no online service can guarantee absolute security.

7. Your privacy rights

Depending on applicable law in your location, you may have rights relating to your personal data, such as requesting access to, correction of, or deletion of your information. You can delete your own account and data directly from Settings at any time, or reach out using the contact details below for any other request.

8. Children and minors

MyTube is intended for students and learners generally, but is not specifically directed at young children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us so we can address it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as MyTube evolves. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
